Tuesday, December 20, 2011

Indeed the essence of photography is to play with light. If we are able to play and get around the direction of the light to the object image properly, it will attract and produce works of great photography. But if we're wrong, of course the result will be disappointing.

Direction of the light to the subject of the photo has some possibilities are: from front / frontlight, rear / backlight, left or right side / sidelight, up / toplight, and under / bottomlight. Each direction of the light it has the advantages, disadvantages, and the difficulty of each in the shooting.

For this edition, I will discuss about the backlight, in which direction the light comes from behind the object image. Backlight to "hunt" because of the difficulty in shooting for a light source such as this. The images resulting from backlight can also be diverse and extraordinary if used with good success.

Take a picture with backlight technique must be able to separate between the object and the background so the picture becomes dimensionless. In addition, a variety of other effects of this technique to produce images such as: silhouette, translucency, rimlight including flares. About the results, go back to the techniques used photographers.

Typically, with this technique we can produce silhouette images that tend to under exposure (EU). But the picture with backlight technique can also produce images that are not under exposure when we add fill light in nature.

Light fill in is certainly not as light main light, with the aim that there gradations of light that create a dramatic and memorable photographs have artistic value. With the backlight technique, gives a dazzling light edge and create forms objects appear more clearly visible. When the playing techniques of the backlight in the studio, put the light source behind the object. Then we can use other light sources as a fill-in. Get in front of the object, can also be from the side or bottom according to our desires.

To maintain the sharpness of object images and avoid the occurrence of shaking, settinglah camera with fast speed and diaphragm being. By understanding the direction of the light, we are increasingly expected to produce good photos. Good luck!
